Introduction

College of Humanities and Social Sciences

The precursor of the University was “National Pingtung Agricultural Vocational School,” and in 1991 it was restructured to “National Pingtung Technical College,” which was then renamed to “National Pingtung University of Science and Technology” in August 1997. The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was established in August 2000.

When planning educational objectives and developmental directions, the college seeks to cope with social and industrial needs, the future trend of changing demographic structures, knowledge development, and technological advancement. The college also strives to meet the University’s educational objectives to be “international, holistic and professional.” The College of Humanities and Social Sciences constructs its “core competencies”, to serve as the connective structure among professional courses and mandatory courses in the departments, in order to cultivate talented personnel to serve society with a balance between professional knowledge, cultural literacy, professional ethics, and practical applications.
